Mumbai : Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday ordered district collectors to conduct a cleanliness push at all temples in the state and ensure that the change is “visible” within a week of the Lord Ram temple’s consecration on January 22.
The instructions were given by Eknath Shinde during a review meeting he presided over at his official house here.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed that temples be kept clean. Maharashtra’s district collectors should conduct a temple cleansing push and decorate them with electricity. “The difference should be noticeable within a week,” Shinde added.
He suggested that each district’s District Planning and Development Council set aside some monies to clean temples and their surrounds on a regular basis.
According to a press statement, Shinde told collectors that a separate scheme should be developed for the purpose, and that DPDCs can provide funding for it.
The chief minister also requested that the state revenue department designate a nodal officer to oversee the process.
