In an interview with the media, Nagaon Superintendent of Police (SP) Nabaneet Mahanta stated that they are unsure whether the incident was caused by an explosive such as a grenade.

Silchar: Four youngsters were injured after an explosion near a police station in Assam’s Nagaon district on Friday evening, according to persons familiar with the situation.

According to witnesses, the explosion occurred when an abandoned grenade burst at Kandali’s police fire range. However, police have stated that it is unknown whether the explosion was caused by a grenade.

In an interview with the media, Nagaon Superintendent of Police (SP) Nabaneet Mahanta stated that they are unsure whether the incident was caused by an explosive such as a grenade. He stated that the police are investigating the event.

“As per the initial inquiry, it was a fire cell which was sitting on the field not far from the police station and it exploded when the kids picked it up and tried to throw it away,” Mahanta said in a press release.

Mangaleswar Sautal, Ranju Modi, Bikas Sautal, and Nitumoni Gogoi have been identified as the four injured youngsters by police. According to authorities, they were sent to Nagaon Medical College & Hospital for treatment.

Some of the injuries are critical, according to hospital officials.
