Mahesh Bhatt is a well-known and significant figure in the Indian cinema industry, having worked as a filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer. Helen’s reply when he presented her the film Lahu Ke Do Rang, said the filmmaker recently. In an interview with Rediff, Mahesh Bhatt revealed that someone told him he was pagal for not shooting a dance number with Helen, but rather an emotional film. “Suna hai Helen ke sath shooting kar raha hai, dance hai kya?” he remarked. I answered, Nahin emotional film hai, shaking my head. Helen’s emotional film bana rahe ho pagal hai.

“Helen Ji herself was happy to do my film, but she was concerned about whether she would be able to pull off the role that required emotional drama rather than song and dance.” She was also taken aback by my desire to cast her against a pop star like Vinod Khanna. However, once she agreed to play the part, she devoted herself completely to it. She exceeded my expectations and not only ‘looked’ Suzy, but also dispelled the concept that an actress is restricted by her image with her talent and depth. Give her a significant role, and she will excel. “The audience loved her then, and they still love her now, and as they say, time is the best critic,” Mahesh Bhatt remarked.

Helen made her Bollywood debut at the age of 19 in 1958, when she sang the song Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu in Shakti Samanta’s film Howrah Bridge, which was sung by Geeta Dutt. Following that, offers began to stream in during the 1960s and 1970s. Her other significant works include Yeh Mera Dil, which was used in the 1978 film Don, and Piya Tu Ab to Aaja, which was featured in the 1971 film Caravan.
