The 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit (P20) was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday in New Delhi. The Parliament is hosting the meeting as part of a larger plan for India’s G20 Presidency. Speaking at the conference, Modi referred to it as the “MahaKumbh” of legislative procedures worldwide.
“On behalf of 140 crore Indians, I extend a warm welcome to you at the 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit (P20). This Summit is comparable to a “MahaKumbh” of legislative techniques from around the globe, the speaker remarked. The prime minister continued by stating that parliaments are crucial venues for discussion and deliberation. He also praised India’s moon landing and the G20 summit’s smooth ending.
“The P20 Summit is being held today. This Summit serves as a platform for recognizing the strength of our nation’s citizens. India, the mother of democracy and the largest democracy in the world, is hosting the P20 Summit, he noted.
He added that no one benefits from the disputes and clashes the world faces today. The comments were made in the midst of a conflict involving militants from Hamas headquartered in Palestine and Israel that has claimed over 2,800 lives across both nations.
“A divided world cannot provide answers to the problems we face. This is a time for harmony and brotherhood, a time to work together and advance as a group. This is the time for everyone’s growth and welfare, he declared. Speakers of parliaments from G20 members and invited nations are present during the P20 Summit. “Parliaments for One Earth, One Family, One Future” is its theme. Participants included speakers and delegation heads from Indonesia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Spain, the European Parliament, Italy, South Africa, Russia, Turkey, Nigeria, Australia, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Japan, Egypt, and Bangladesh.
