Kejriwal claimed that today’s raid on AAP MP Sanjay Singh and yesterday’s raid on journalists were last-ditch efforts by a party confident of its defeat in 2024.

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, responded on Wednesday to the ED raids at the residence of AAP MP Sanjay Singh in relation to the suspected liquor scam and claimed that, similar to the hundreds of past scams, this raid will also turn up nothing. “Journalists were searched yesterday, Sanjay Singh, and you might be searched tomorrow. These are the last-ditch efforts of a party that knows it will lose in 2024. As the elections approach, more of these raids will take place, according to Kejriwal. For the past year, they have been discussing these frauds. There have allegedly been thousands of raids, yet not a single rupee has been found. I’ve also said this before.

They accused us of sharab, paani, and classroom ghotala. The investigation into the alleged booze fraud has been ongoing for the past year, but they have not yet discovered anything. Elections will soon be held. They believe they would lose, Kejriwal remarked.

Sanjay Singh’s New Delhi home was visited by Enforcement Directorate agents on Wednesday morning as part of an alleged liquor scam investigation. Sanjay Singh’s name was included in the ED chargesheet as a result of a middleman’s statement named Dinesh Arora. Arora claimed that he met Sanjay Singh at a celebration held at his eatery Unplugged Courtyard. Singh has enlisted the help of restaurant proprietors to raise money for the Aam Aadmi Party. According to Arora, Singh received a check for 82 lakh rupees in 2020 for the fund.

AAP said the ED targeted Sanjay Singh as he raised issues related to the Adani Group in Parliament. Sanjay Singh has not commented on the raids yet.

Tuesday saw a number of places connected to the news portal NewsClick being raided by the Delhi Police, and founder Prabir Purakayastha and HR chief Amit Chakravarty were taken into custody in connection with a UAPA complaint alleging that their website received funding for pro-China propaganda.

The Supreme Court will pick up the hearing on Manish Sisodia’s bail request on Wednesday. Since February, Sisodia has been detained in relation to the suspected booze scam.
