15 September 2023 ( New Delhi ) : According to ADGP Mamta Singh, the state police have detained Haryana Congress MLA Mamman Khan in connection with the Nuh violence case. Security precautions outside the Nuh District Court, where Mamman Khan is set to appear today for legal proceedings, have been stepped up, according to ANI.
The Ferozepur Jhirka MLA was taken into custody late last night after being listed as a suspect in a FIR filed following the communal riots. The Ferozepur Jhirka MLA, who had been named as one of the culprits in a FIR filed in the wake of the communal riots, was brought into prison late last night, according to PTI. The arrest has been confirmed by Satish Kumar, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) commander and Deputy Superintendent of Police for Ferozepur Jhirkha.
When asked if the lawmaker had been arrested, he responded, “Yes.” Aftab Ahmed, a senior Congress legislator from Nuh, also verified Khan’s arrest.
The Deputy Leader of the Congress Legislature Party in the Haryana Assembly stated, “The police have informed us that he has been arrested.”
Khan had been named as a suspect in a FIR following the Nuh riots, the Haryana government said in a statement to the High Court last Thursday. The authorities added that they have phone call logs and other corroborating information to back up their claims against him. Khan’s official admission as an accused was made on September 4th, according to Haryana’s Additional Advocate General, Deepak Sabharwal, after a careful review of the available evidence. Additionally, Sabharwal stressed to the media that Khan was implicated in the case by strong and convincing evidence.
Unruly mobs disrupted a procession that the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) was leading in Nuh on July 31. Six people died as a result of this, the most of them perished during the attack on the parade. In addition, a preacher perished in a separate assault on a mosque in the nearby Gurugram region.
