Due to health issues, the former prime minister HD Deve Gowda said on Friday that he would not be attending the G20 dinner that President Droupadi Murmu is hosting. Deve Gowda, who has been invited to the illustrious dinner on September 9, said he has let the administration know of his decision and wished the G20 Summit well.
“Due to health issues, I will not be attending the G20 dinner that the Honorable President of India Draupadi Murmuji is hosting on September 9, 2023. The government has already received this information from me. The head of the Janata Dal (Secular) said on X, formerly Twitter, “I wish the G20 conference a wonderful success.
According to information cited by ANI, the former prime minister Manmohan Singh has also been invited to the G20 Summit dinner. In an interview with The Indian Express conducted prior to the major event in the nation’s capital, Manmohan Singh expressed his happiness at India being given the G20 Summit chairmanship at a time when foreign policy is more crucial than ever.
In addition, he applauded the government’s decision to prioritize India’s economic and sovereign interests while taking a stern diplomatic stance on the Russia-Ukraine dispute, adding that when two or more states are involved in a fight, other countries are under enormous pressure to take a side.
Participants in the G20 Summit, which is being hosted by India, have begun to arrive in Delhi from around the world.
A few days ago, a state-issued invitation to the G20 dinner appeared on social media, sparking a significant political debate because the invitation was sent in the name of the “President of Bharat” rather than the customary “President of India.” The invitation card fueled rumors that the administration intended to switch the official spelling of the nation’s name from “India” to “Bharat.” Although the BJP factions in power enthusiastically endorsed the rumors, the government has not officially announced the widely rumored move.
