In an informal meeting with the ministers on Wednesday, PM Modi is thought to have brought up both the Sanatan Dharma and the India versus Bharat controversy.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Sanatan Dharma controversy, which resulted from Minister Udhayanidhi of Tamil Nadu’s remark that Sanatan should be destroyed like dengue and malaria. According to LiveHindustan, PM Modi brought up the subject in a casual conversation with the ministers during the Cabinet meeting and instructed them to respond appropriately to the Sanatan Dharma debate. To oppose the opposition leaders in the Sanatan row, they should do their research and deliver the facts without letting the India versus Bharat controversy overshadow the Sanatan row. According to the report, PM Modi further advised that only party spokespeople should address the India versus Bharat dispute.
The Sanatana Row: What is it? What does PM Modi’s response mean ?
- Udhayanidhi Stalin, the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, sparked a scandal when he compared Sanatan Dharma to dengue and malaria and underlined that Sanatan Dharma should be abolished.
- The remark sparked a tremendous political uproar, with BJP officials asking INDIA leaders about if it represents the opposition’s consensus opinion. Udhayanidhi was also charged with inciting genocide.
- Even after widespread condemnation, Udhayanidhi stayed firm in his remarks and emphasized that he was speaking out against caste-based society. He denied making genocidal remarks and stated that when PM Modi speaks of Congress-mukt Bharat, he does not mean wiping all Congress people.
- The opposition parties in INDIA were divided on Udhay’s remark. Priyank Kharge and Karti Chidambaram of the Congress Party agreed with Udhay. An FIR was filed against Priyank and Udhayanidhi in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, under Sections 295A (deliberate and intentional acts to insult religious sentiments) and 153 A (promoting enmity between different religious groups) of the IPC.
- Udhayanidhi, the leader of the DMK, justified his comment against caste-based society, citing the fact that the Centre did not invite President Droupadi Murmu to the inauguration of Parliament as an example of discrimination under Sanatan Dharma. In his speech to instructors, Udhay also slammed Dronacharya of Mahabharat for requesting Eklavvya’s thumb. Udhay speculated that because Eklavya was a tribal lad, he was exploited.
- The first federal minister to respond to Udhayanidhi’s comments was Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who stated that the INDIA alliance is anti-Hindu.
- Several BJP ministers have spoken on the Sanatan Dharma controversy, but PM Modi bringing it up with the ministers shows that the BJP would not let it go quietly.
- Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party’s chief and Delhi’s chief minister, came out against Udhayanidhi’s statement. “My name is Sanatan Dharma. Many of you are also Sanatan Dharma practitioners. I believe we should respect each other’s religions and refrain from disparaging them. It is not correct. “Everyone should respect the religion of others,” Kejriwal stated.
