Nirmala Sitharaman shared an old video of KS Alagiri, the leader of the Tamil Nadu Congress, discussing Sanatan Dharma and asserting that INDIA is hostile to Hindus.
While the Congress party stayed out of the controversy surrounding Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comment regarding Sanatan Dharma, Union minister Nirmala Sitharaman released an old video of KS Alagiri, the head of the state’s Congress party, saying that the alliance’s goal is to destroy Sanatan Dharma. The opposition group INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive group) is under fire for the DMK leader’s remarks as the Sanatan Dharma row has escalated into a big crisis.
The attack on India was led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who said, “These individuals have talked about Sanatan Dharma for votebank appeasement. (Sanatan Dharma) has been insulted by them. Nirmala Sitharaman drew attention to the fact that Tamil Nadu’s minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, PK Sekar Babu, was present and did not object when Udhayanidhi Stalin made the comment about abolishing Sanatan Dharma.
The son of Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin and former actor-turned-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin stood by his remarks when they erupted into a significant political storm. Sanatan, according to Udhayanidhi, divided people based on caste. Sanatan should not just be opposed; it should be eradicated, like malaria and dengue.
There was nothing wrong with what Udhayanidhi said, according to Congressman Karti Chidambaram, because Sanatan is a term used to refer to a caste system in Tamil. “Udhayanidhi indicated that caste hierarchical system needs to be abolished; it does not have the deeper philosophical significance that some people seem to think it does. Sanatan Dharma has always meant the caste system, according to Karti Chidambaram, who also noted that Udhayanidhi’s speech did not advocate genocide. The statement by the BJP’s Amit Malviya that removing Sanatan amounted to calling for the eradication of 80% of the nation’s population was the source of the “genocide call.”
Hindutva, which is the “greatest threat” to Hindus and Hinduism, is referred to as Sanatan in Tamil Nadu, according to Tamil Nadu Congress leader Lakshmi Ramachandran. Lakshmi Ramachandran stated that “Hindutva has divided our society, has othered the minorities, and has used my religion to spread hatred.”
Given that they are all coalition partners, the BJP asked the Congress and Uddhav Thackeray for clarification. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, stated that Rahul Gandhi must demonstrate his regard for Sanatan Dharma and whether the Congress will cut connections with the DMK as a result of Udhayanidhi’s remarks. The Tamil Nadu government was questioned by the VHP to see whether Udhayanidhi’s assertion represents the position of the administration. “If this is the case, we will inform the national government that everyone has the right to practice their faith in accordance with Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution. The government has a responsibility to defend it. Alok Kumar, working president of the VHP, remarked.
