6 August 2023 ( New Delhi) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone for redevelopment of 508 railway stations across the country through video conferencing. Stations will be redeveloped at a cost of more than Rs 24 thousand 470 crore under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.These 508 stations are spread over 27 states and union territories, including 55 each in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, 49 in Bihar, 44 in Maharashtra, 37 in West Bengal, 34 in Madhya Pradesh, 32 in Assam, 25 in Odisha, Punjab consists of 22 stations. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, 21 each in Gujarat and Telangana, 20 in Jharkhand, 18 each in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Modi said, India’s prestige has increased at the global level. “The world’s perception towards India has changed. There are two main reasons behind this – first, Indians elected a government with full majority after almost three decades and second, the government with full majority took major decisions and continuously worked for permanent solutions to the challenges faced by the country, “According to railway estimates, the redevelopment work of these 508 stations spread across 27 states and union territories will be done in two years at a cost of Rs 24,470 crore.
