The Nuh violence in Haryana LIVE: Violence broke out during a religious procession in Haryana’s Nuh district on Monday, fuelling tensions across the state.

Haryana’s Nuh violence LIVE: Parts of Haryana remained gripped in tensions for the third day as the Nuh violence spread to the other parts, leading in the death of six people and injuring dozens. The communal clashes first broke out during a Hindu religious procession in Nuh district, after rumours spread that the absconding cow vigilante Monu Maneser, a key accused in Bhiwani killings, would also attend the event.

The two cousins Junaid and Nasir, whose burned remains were discovered in an off-road vehicle in Haryana’s Bhiwani district in February, are connected to the Bhiwani case. Here is a link to Hindustan Times’ report of the incident in Nuh.

As a result of the turn of events, the state of Haryana has implemented prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in several areas of the state. While the leaders have made a call for peace, peace committee meetings have also been organized to reduce tension. Nishant Kumar Yadav, the deputy commissioner (DC) for Gurugram, issued an order prohibiting the sale of loose gasoline and diesel at all gas stations, “except in emergency situations”.

While the opposition leaders criticized the Manohar Lal Khattar government for failing to keep peace and order in the state, Home Minister Anil Vij called the violence a ‘well-planned’ conspiracy and ordered an inquiry on Tuesday. At least 40 cases have been filed against persons involved in the event, and more than 100 men have been held for interrogation.
