The Manipur Police have arrested another suspect in connection with a viral video that went viral on Wednesday, showing two women paraded naked and sexually attacked by a mob in strife-torn Manipur.

Four suspects who had been detained on Thursday in connection with the crime were placed in 11-day police custody on Friday.

The social media video, which depicted two women being paraded naked and assaulted in Manipur’s Kangpokpi, has caused widespread indignation around the nation and in Parliament during the current monsoon session.

1. Yumlembam Nungsithoi Metei, 19, has apparently been named as the fifth suspect, according to police.
2. The people of Manipur have been urged by the administration not to trust rumors. People can validate the spread of “unfounded” films by calling the “rumor free” helpline number (9233522822). The state administration pleaded with the populace to turn in the stolen weapons, ammo, and explosives to the local law enforcement or security forces.
3. According to India Today, new violence erupted in Imphal as a result of female protestors blocking both lanes of a major road in the Ghari district. It stated that during the protests, the female protesters set tires on fire, which prompted law enforcement to intervene.
