“Mahatma Gandhi’s principle of trusteeship—trusteeship that is shared between our countries and for our shared planet—is the foundation of the relationship between India and the United States. In a message on platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Joe Biden remarked, “Thank you, Prime Minister, for bringing us here today.

Additionally, Joe Biden shared a photo of himself and other G20 officials paying respects to Mahatma Gandhi at his memorial. Joe Biden and other G20 leaders were welcomed to the memorial by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a “angvastram,” or stole, that had a picture of Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat in the background.

Later, the G20 leaders honored Mahatma Gandhi by placing wreaths at his mahatma. A similar video was posted by Joe Biden.

The G20 conference this year, according to the US president, demonstrated that the organization is still capable of advancing answers to its most urgent problems.

“This year’s Summit proved that the G20 can still lead solutions to our most pressing issues at a time when the global economy is suffering from the overlapping shocks of the climate crisis, fragility, and conflict,” Joe Biden stated.
