Surrey (Canada). A major security scare unfolded in Surrey, British Columbia, when gunfire erupted outside Indian comedian Kapil Sharma’s newly opened café. The establishment, named Caps Cafe, was inaugurated just three days earlier on July 7 by Sharma himself.
According to media reports, unidentified assailants fired nine shots at the café late on Wednesday night. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far. Local police and forensic teams quickly arrived at the scene and launched an investigation.
A video of the shooting is rapidly circulating on social media. It shows an individual sitting inside a car, firing multiple shots toward the café from within the vehicle.

Tied to Alleged Comments Against Nihang Sikhs
Preliminary information suggests the attack may be linked to alleged remarks made by Kapil Sharma about the Nihang Sikh community during a past comedy performance. However, it remains unclear what specific comments sparked the anger.
Sources speculate the controversy could stem from a past episode of one of Sharma’s shows, possibly aired on Netflix, or from a live event. Earlier this year, Baba Balbir Singh, a leader from the Nihang Sikh community, had publicly expressed objections to some of Sharma’s comedic content.

Khalistani Terrorist Claims Responsibility
An INN report has claimed that Harjit Singh Ladi, a Khalistani terrorist linked to the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), has claimed responsibility for the attack. Harjit Singh Ladi is reportedly listed among India’s most-wanted fugitives by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
In a video message circulating on social media, Harjit Singh Ladi and another individual identified as Toofan Singh warned Kapil Sharma to issue a public apology for his alleged comments. They threatened that failing to do so could escalate matters further.
Both men alleged that they had tried multiple times to reach out to Kapil Sharma’s manager but were ignored. They claimed that, as a last resort to get Sharma’s attention, they resorted to opening fire outside the café.
Meanwhile, Canadian authorities have heightened security in the area, and investigations are ongoing. Kapil Sharma has yet to release any official statement regarding the incident.
