Baghpat, UP | April 13, 2025 — A shocking incident of animal cruelty has surfaced from Gauspur village in Aminagar Sarai area of Baghpat district, where five stray dogs were allegedly killed and thrown into a village pond. The gruesome discovery triggered outrage among local residents, who have demanded strict action against the perpetrator.
According to local sources, the villagers woke up on Sunday morning to find the mutilated bodies of five dogs floating in the village pond. The disturbing sight quickly spread panic and anger throughout the community. Locals claim that the dogs were deliberately killed due to their constant barking during nighttime hours, which had become a source of disturbance for some.
Former village head Vakil, along with residents Jamshed, Arshad, and several others, approached the Singhawali Aheer police station to file an official complaint. In their written statement to the police, villagers alleged that a local individual, who is also suspected of stealing crops like sugarcane, garlic, and other vegetables from nearby fields during the night, might be behind the brutal act.
The villagers explained that the dogs used to sit near the road leading out of the village and would often bark at passersby during the night. This allegedly obstructed the suspected thief’s movement, leading to the possibility that the dogs were targeted to eliminate this “obstacle.”
“For the past two nights, we didn’t hear any barking, which was unusual,” one villager said. “On Sunday morning, we found their lifeless, cut-up bodies in the pond. We strongly believe this was done intentionally.”
The police have confirmed receiving the complaint and stated that a thorough investigation is currently underway. “We have started the inquiry based on the villagers’ complaints. Appropriate action will be taken after the findings of the investigation,” said an official from the Singhawali Aheer police station.
Animal rights activists have also raised concerns over the increasing instances of animal cruelty in rural areas and are urging authorities to ensure justice in this case.
As the investigation continues, the village remains in shock over the brutality inflicted on the helpless animals. The community is hoping for swift and strict action to ensure such incidents do not occur again.
