A significant protest unfolded at Noida’s Pari Chowk on Saturday as farmers and women gathered to voice their demands, primarily the allocation of 10% land plots and other pressing issues. During the march to Delhi, over 60 farmers and women were arrested and sent to Luksar Jail.

Reason Behind the Protest

The protest centers around farmers demanding 10% of land plots as compensation and addressing several other grievances. The farmers are also engaged in a “Jail Bharo Andolan” (Fill the Jail Movement) to strengthen their agitation and make their voices heard against what they perceive as administrative high-handedness.

Police Deployment and Arrests

Anticipating the march to Delhi, authorities deployed a large contingent of police personnel at Pari Chowk, including PAC, RPF, and women constables. Barricades were set up early in the morning to restrict the protesters.

Around noon, a group of over 30 farmers and women from Tugalpur village arrived at Pari Chowk, chanting slogans. As soon as they reached the site, the police surrounded them and immediately arrested the protesters, sending them to Luksar Jail by bus.

Participation of Women Protesters

Later, another group of farmers, including over 40 women, marched to Pari Chowk from villages near Dadri’s NTPC area. A tense standoff ensued between the women protesters and the police. The women sat on the ground, raising slogans against the administration. After a prolonged scuffle, the police forcibly lifted them and transported them to jail.

Farmers’ Allegations

Following the arrests, the farmers accused the administration of suppressing their movement through authoritarian tactics. They claimed that jailing their leaders was an attempt to weaken the protest.

“Jail Bharo Andolan” Continues

Despite the arrests, the farmers have vowed to continue their agitation until their demands are met. They emphasized that the “Jail Bharo Andolan” is a testament to their commitment to securing their rights.

Farmers’ Resolve

The protesting farmers have made it clear that they will not back down until their demands are fulfilled. They accused the authorities of using force to stifle their voices but reiterated their determination to fight for justice.
