Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, is asking the Supreme Court to overturn the Delhi High Court’s stay of the lower court’s bail ruling. Through his attorneys, Kejriwal requested a hearing in this case for Monday itself.
Notably, the Delhi High Court on Friday temporarily stayed the lower court’s decision to grant Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal bail in the money laundering case involving the now-canceled Delhi Excise Policy. Following the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) application to the High Court to contest the ruling of the lower court, Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain issued this directive.
The court said that it was reserving the case for a more comprehensive ruling on the motion to vacate the ruling of the lower court. It further stated that it would render a decision within two to three days. The lone judge ruled that the bail ruling from the lower court not be carried out in the interim. After two votes, the final order would be passed.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday in the money laundering case related to the liquor scandal. He was ordered to be freed on a bond of Rs 1 lakh.
