On June 14, Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan’s first movie, “Maharaj,” was scheduled to be released. However, the Gujarat High Court blocked its publication. Regarding the movie, there was discord and a lot of uproar. This movie is now accessible on OTT. ‘Maharaj’ by Junaid Khan is available to stream on OTT. The Gujarat High Court declared that there is nothing uncomfortable in the movie and removed the ban on its release.
The Gujarat High Court removed the interim halt on the release of Junaid Khan’s debut film “Maharaj” on Friday, according to news agency PTI. The film does not target the Pushti Marg sect, as claimed, and the court declared that there is nothing derogatory in it. Yash Raj Films is the maker of this movie.
The ‘Maharaj Libel lawsuit’, a slander lawsuit from 1862, serves as the basis for this movie. Karsandas Mulji, a writer, poet, journalist, and social reformer from Gujarat, is the subject of this defamation lawsuit. Karsandas is played by Junaid Khan in this movie.
A petition opposing its Netflix distribution was sent in by several followers of the Vaishnava branch of Hinduism, Pushti Marg, who said it would offend religious feelings. On June 13, Judge Sangeeta Vishen issued an interim order to prevent the movie’s release on the over-the-top streaming site Netflix.
The CBFC has certified the movie, and the judge stated in his order today, Friday, June 21, that it does not target the community. Director Siddharth P., of Hichki fame, is heading this movie.
