As a project developer, Adani Group will only construct houses that would be leased to the same departments. These homes are going to be distributed to the people living in the biggest slum in Asia.
The Adani Group will not get any land transfers as part of the multi-crore Dharavi slum redevelopment project. In order to shed light on the matter, sources stated that the Adani Group, as the project developer, will only build homes that will be turned over to the same departments when the land in the project is transferred to the Maharashtra government’s departments. These homes are going to be distributed to the people living in the biggest slum in Asia.
Varsha Gaikwad, a Congress MP, is accusing someone in the case of taking land. In response to these allegations, project-related sources stated that the land will only be given to the state government’s housing department’s Dharavi Redevelopment Project/Slum Rehabilitation Authority (DRP/SRA). After an open international auction, the Dharavi slum redevelopment project was given to Adani Group. Through its joint venture business Dharavi Redevelopment Project Private Limited (DRPPL), the group will construct homes and businesses, which it will then turn over back to DRP/SRA.
Sources claim that before the tender was even announced, DRPPL was given the allotment of bogus railway land, on which rehabilitation units for the first group of Dharavi people are to be built. DRPPL paid a hefty premium of 170 percent above the going rates for this land. The government order of 2022 stipulates that every resident of Dharavi, if eligible or not, will be given a house. Sources dismissed the assertions that residents will be forced out of their homes and made homeless, calling them completely fictitious and a ploy to incite fear in the public.
He emphasized that under the DRP/SRA arrangement, no inhabitant of Dharavi will be relocated. Owners of houses who possessed them on January 1, 2000, or earlier, are qualified for in-situ repair. For just Rs 2.5 lakh under PMAY or through renting, those who were in possession between January 1, 2000 and January 1, 2011 will be given real estate anywhere in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) outside of Dharavi.
