From June 13–15, Puglia, Italy, hosted the G-7 summit. To take part in this, PM Modi traveled to Italy. On June 14, PM Modi took part in an outreach session involving artificial intelligence (AI), energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean.
The G-7 summit took place in Italy on June 13–15. On the fringes of the summit on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni took a selfie. On the edge of the G-7 Outreach Summit in Apulia, Meloni took a selfie with PM Modi, and the two leaders could be seen smiling. The two presidents took a photo in December of last year while addressing the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP 28) in Dubai.
In addition, PM Modi extended gratitude to the Italian government for recognizing the role played by the Indian Army in the Italian campaign of World War II. The PM declared that the Yashwant Ghadge memorial in Montone, Italy, will be upgraded by India. Both PM Modi and his Italian a friend assessed the growth of the strategic cooperation between Italy and India and expressed satisfaction with the regular high political dialogue. Meloni also congratulated Modi on winning the post of prime minister for a record third time.

India was invited by Italy to attend the G-7 conference as a guest nation. In actuality, India has received invites from the G-7 previously. Since 2019, India has received invites to the G-7 each year. India, Germany, the UK, and France were invited by Japan in 2023, 2022, and 2019 respectively. The US had invited India to a meeting in 2020, but COVID-19 forced a cancellation of the event.
