On Sunday, terrorists ambushed a bus carrying pilgrims traveling from Vaishno Devi in Jammu and Kashmir to Reasi. This resulted in 41 wounds and 9 devotee deaths. This also caused damage to the family of Bhairopur resident Premchand Kannaujiya and his Purdilpur relatives. 14 members of both families set off together on June 4th to pay a visit to Mata Vaishno Devi in Jammu.

According to Premchand Kannaujiya, on June 4, his wife Gayatri, his daughter Aarohi, Saurabh alias Shani, and five other relatives of his in-laws—Rajesh, a resident of Golghar Kali Mandir Purdilpur, and his wife Rixona, Soni—went to the Vaishno Devi shrine.

After giving prayers, they went Shivkhodi for darshan. On Sunday, they were going back to Katra around 4:30 p.m. Terrorists attacked the bus in the treacherous conditions. The driver was shot, forcing the bus to lose control and fall into the ditch.

The financial assistance amount released by the Chief Minister was given to the families on Monday after rural MLA Vipin Singh, Joint Magistrate/SDM Sadar Mrinali Avinash Joshi, Area Officer Cantt Anshika Verma, Sadar Tehsildar Vikas Kumar Singh, Councilor Purdilpur Manu Jaiswal, and injured Gayatri’s residence in Kudhaghat Bhairopur and Rajesh’s residence in Purdilpur had been reached.

Meanwhile, a terrorist attack on a bus carrying pilgrims heading back to Jammu after seeing Vaishno Devi in Sant Kabir Nagar took the lives of a Sant Kabir Nagar couple and their two boys. In Jammu, they are receiving medical treatment. The pair claims that the bus’s firing startled them for fifteen minutes. And in that moment, they stopped breathing. Luckily, both they and their kids made it out alive.

The attackers kept firing on the bus even after this. For around fifteen minutes, the gunfire continued. The terrorists left the area as soon as the residents arrived. According to Sanjay, both of the kids only had minor wounds. After a while, the younger child was discovered after disappearing from the crowd. These individuals get care at Jammu’s Narayan Hospital.
