On Saturday, the weather suddenly shifted in many parts of Delhi-NCR. A little respite from the searing heat was granted by showers and strong gusts.
Due to the activation of South West Disturbance, Sunday’s weather in the capital will vary. It can occur for there to be some light rain in this situation. This will result in a drop in temperature. A yellow rain alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department. The predicted maximum temperature and minimum temperature for this period of time are 43 degrees Celsius and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively. The heat on Saturday created worries for many, but by the afternoon, the weather had cleared off. A dust storm and strong winds were blowing. Drizzle also happened in a lot of NCR locations during this period. But eventually, the bright sunshine caused the people to get uneasy with the heat and humidity.
The Regional Meteorological Center reports that Delhi’s highest temperature on June 1st was 44.2°C, which is four degrees above the average. The highest recorded temperature in 2019 was 44.8 degrees. At the same time, the lowest recorded temperature was 30 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees more than the average.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) on Saturday was 245—poor—due to a reduction in wind speed and a shift in direction. The Weather Channel forecasts that the quality of the air will stay minimal until Tuesday. Greater Noida has the highest AQI of 373 in the NCR, which is in the extremely poor category, according to the CPCB. Noida reported 256 AQI, Ghaziabad recorded 222, Faridabad recorded 212, and Gurugram recorded 182.
People cried as a result of the power outage caused by the severe gusts that took numerous pole wires. The weather in Faridabad changed, giving some respite from the heat, but strong gusts forced electricity wires to break. People were impacted by blackouts in various locations as a result. There were power outages for five to six hours in many places on Saturday as well. People are thus also dealing with the water crisis. People were able to flee the heat on Friday and Saturday because of the drop in temperature. But many electrical cables broke as a result of the high winds. The employees needed a great deal of time to mend the wires.
