“We made a mistake and Pakistan violated an agreement with India.” Nawaz Sharif, the recently elected president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has acknowledged his error.
According to Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan carried out five nuclear tests on May 28, 1998. Following this, a deal was struck in Pakistan by the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the prime minister of India at the time. “We violated that agreement and it was our mistake,” Nawaz Sharif said. This was said by Nawaz Sharif during a meeting following his election as PML-N president.
The former US President Bill Clinton allegedly presented a five billion dollar offer to the previous prime minister of Pakistan to halt the nuclear growth. “I decided to turn down this offer, but if former Prime Minister Imran Khan had been in my shoes, he would have accepted Clinton’s offer with a doubt,” he stated.
Nawaz Sharif said that Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar had removed him from office in 2017 by deceiving him of having participated in a case. The president of the PML-N went on to say that while any allegations made against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan are genuine, each of the allegations against him are untrue.
