To improve traffic safety on the international airport road, Bengaluru Traffic Police has made an important step. Eight speed trap cameras featuring artificial intelligence (AI) have been installed. These cameras have advanced technology integrated, and are made to automatically track the speed of moving cars and impose fines to make sure limitations on speed are followed.
Eight AI-powered speed trap cameras have been strategically placed along the elevated corridor of Ballari Road by the Bengaluru Traffic Police as a solution to the increasing severity of traffic incidents on the Kempegowda International Airport road. The action is mainly aimed at decreasing the number of overspeeding tickets in that region. where the 80 km/h permitted speed limit is frequently surpassed by cars.
The newly installed speed trap cameras use AI algorithms to detect vehicles exceeding the speed limit. Once a violation is detected, these cameras automatically issue a fine. According to official records, about 9 percent of accidents in Bengaluru are recorded on this particular stretch. Which makes it one of the accident-prone areas of the city.
A precise penalty structure for overspeeding violations has been established by the Bengaluru Traffic Police along with municipal authorities. Public records state that driving a two-wheeler recklessly or carelessly would result in a fine of Rs 1000. Overspeeding, however, warrants a penalty of Rs 2000.
