On Thursday, a huge slide rushed through Arunachal Pradesh, destroying a piece of the Roing Anini highway that connects to China. The highway connects the Dibhang Valley district to the rest of India.
A huge landslide hit Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday, destroying a piece of a roadway that connected to China’s border. It is also the only route connecting Dibhang Valley district to the rest of India.
According to initial reports, road damage along the Roing Anini Highway between Hunli and Anini is widespread.
Pema Khandu, the chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, voiced worry about the tragedy.
“I’m disturbed to learn about the inconvenience caused to commuters by the considerable damage to the highway between Hunli and Anini. Instructions have been issued to restore communication as soon as possible, as this road connects Dibang Valley to the rest of the country,” he tweeted.
The incident developed due to the constant rain. The district government informed Dibhang Valley locals that the restoration work on the Roing Anini highway will take “at least three days”.
“All residents of Dibang Valley are notified that, due to continuous rain in the district, an important section of NH 313 connecting Anini to Roing was washed away on April 24, 2024, and restoration is expected to take at least three days.” As a result, all issues should be addressed until the road is repaired and rain returns to normal,” the statement added.
