4 August 2023 (New Delhi) : The Delhi Metro on Thursday expanded the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) option for payments at ticket vending machines and counters. To enhance passenger convenience, extended UPI option will be available to passengers on its network. From recharging Metro smart cards, to purchasing and paying for tokens or paper tickets, you will now be able to pay through UPI by scanning a QR code. At the same time, apart from the customer care centers of the metro station, now ticket vending machines will also be able to pay through UPI.
Now this facility is going to be available in the entire metro network of Delhi. That is, now there is no need to carry cash or debit/credit cards while traveling in metro and time is also going to be saved by this.To start this new facility, the process of upgrading the software of ticket vending machines of all metro stations in the capital Delhi and NCR is underway.
MRC initially introduced the UPI facility at select ticket vending machines in Noida and Ghaziabad sections in 2018. With this latest expansion, more than 125 stations in the Delhi-NCR network have been upgraded and the remaining ticket vending machines will be UPI enabled. Passengers can now use their smart cards, Recharge or UPI on your smartphone
