In a recent interview, actor RJ Balaji discussed Animal and indicated that he would prefer not to have such situations in his films.
In an interview with Indiaglitz, actor RJ Balaji, who recently appeared in the film Run Baby Run, discussed Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal and feminism. When asked about his thoughts on feminism in films, he used the example of Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna’s most recent movie, stating that he would prefer if his films did not include such moments.
‘I don’t think it’s normal’
He began by confessing that, while he had not seen Animal, he had heard the conversations surrounding it. “I know everyone likes to say ‘see the movie like a movie and treat it as a craft,’ but it resonated with me that a group of people packed in a theater were watching a guy mistreat women and hurl abuse at them,” he remarked, adding, “I feel horrible that the public is enjoying such films. I don’t think it’s normal to find such scenes enjoyable.”
He also stated that he does not want to be influenced to include such moments in his picture simply because the audience seems to enjoy them. “I do not want to see and be influenced to repeat similar scenes. I heard there is a scene in which he (Ranbir) invites another actor (Triptii Dimri) to lick his shoe. I believe that young people who watch the video will think it is acceptable to treat women in this manner. “I don’t want my films to contribute to that,” he explained.
Animal leaves audience split
Animal, which also stars Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in lead parts, has gotten polarising reactions since its premiere on December 1. While some in the audience praised Vanga for taking a risk with the film and Ranbir for playing the character successfully, others criticized the film for being troublesome.
The most recent celebrity to criticize the film was lyricist Javed Akhtar, with the official X account of Animal replying to his statement by labeling his ‘art form bogus’ if he doesn’t understand why Triptii’s character was ordered to kiss his shoe.
